Racers complete Falken Tire Pikes Peak Hill Climb

June 26, 2004

Rain, sleet and snow couldn't deter dozens of racers from completing the 2004 Falken Tire Pikes Peak International Hill Climb earlier today.

The event, also known as "The Race to the Clouds" involves a wide variety of vehicles, from rally cars and open wheel racers to motorcycles and tractors, that are driven to the mountain's 14,000-plus-foot summit.

The Climb was temporarily postponed in the early afternoon due to unexpected inclement weather, but resumed shortly thereafter.

Last year, Falken signed a three-year contract to be the annual race's title sponsor.

"Pikes Peak is one of the legendary races," Richard Smallwood, Falken Tire vice president of sales and marketing, told mtdealer.com.

"Almost anyone who's a motorsports enthusiast knows Pikes Peak."
