Heafner Tire Group is changing its name to American Tire Distributors effective July 4. The company's board of directors approved the new name April 4.
"Our new name, American Tire Distributors, reflects the national reach of our business and clearly communicates our focus on distribution," said Dick Johnson, president and chief executive officer. "We're no longer a
group but a unified, innovative company focused on serving tire dealers across America."
The new name is part of Heafner Tire Group's transition from a collection of companies joined through acquisition into a single-minded, coast-to-coast organization. Heafner has some 2,000 employees nationwide.
