Fire damages tires in Goodyear warehouse in Germany

March 12, 2004

Some of the 40,000 tires stored in a small Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. warehouse in Philippsburg, Germany, were damaged when a fire broke out early Wednesday.

The extent of the damage is unknown, although the fire was quickly brought under control and did not spread to the small tire manufacturing factory located on the same property. No one was injured, and the cause is under investigation, according to a Goodyear spokesman.

The Goodyear Dunlop Tires warehouse, located in western Germany about 65 miles south of Frankfurt, remains fully functional, and normal delivery operations have been resumed.
