Cooper, union reach agreement in Texarkana

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has reached a tentative agreement with United Steelworkers of America members at its passenger and light truck tire plant in Texarkana, Ark.

Union officials are presenting Cooper's proposed package to members tomorrow.

Ratification is expected by Saturday, March 16.

The three-year agreement involves about 1,500 hourly employees.

Cooper's Texarkana facility can make 34,000 passenger and 8,000 light truck tires at capacity, according to Modern Tire Dealer statistics.
