American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) has nearly quadrupled its distribution capacity in Salt Lake City, Utah, by moving into a 115,000-square-foot warehouse.
"Our dealers will have the ability to access a much broader array of products and brands over the coming months, not only in terms of tires, but also the exciting and growing custom wheel business, tire supplies and equipment," says ATD Chairman and CEO Dick Johnson.
The new distribution center will use a warehouse management system to improve inventory accuracy and enable ATD to receive and ship products more efficiently.
ATD also will install a computer routing system to track orders door-to-door.
In August, ATD acquired Salt Lake mainstay Wholesale Tire Distributors Inc., in addition to Wholesale Tire Distributors of Wyoming Inc. and Wholesale Tire Distributors of Idaho Inc.
