Goodyear, Titan deadline knocked back to Dec. 1

Nov. 15, 2005

Deadline for closing of the sale of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s farm tire division to Titan International Inc. has been extended to Dec. 1, according to Titan officials.

In October it was announced that the deal was expected to close on Nov. 1.

Titan is still in negotiations with the United Steelworkers regarding Goodyear's farm tire plant in Freeport, Ill., which Titan would acquire as part of the $100 million deal.

According to Goodyear's master contract with the union, Titan must first negotiate a new labor contract before the transaction can go through.
