Retired tire dealer writes book on coping with blindness

An exerpt from "How to go blind ... and not lose your mind!" -- the book written by retired tire dealer R. "Mike" Harmer and featured in the October issue of Modern Tire Dealer magazine -- is now available in the magazine archives section of this Web site. The book chronicles the author's struggle with losing his sight to an incurable eye disease. It begins with diagnosis, walks you through the stages of sight loss, and explores emotional and physical problems associated with going blind.

The book was written as a guide for others who may be faced with sight loss, says the author, and includes information on available visual aids and rehabilitation options.
