Griffin Brothers Tire opens seventh location in North Carolina

Aug. 12, 2005

Griffin Brothers Companies has completed construction on its seventh Griffin Brothers Tires, Wheels & Auto Repair outlet. All are located in North Carolina.

Located in Pineville (at the southern edge of Charlotte), the new 15,000-square-foot facility features 12 service bays, including two quick lube bays. The store is designed to look more like an office building than a stereotypical tire store. It includes a "Kids Corner" play area, flatscreen televisions, custom lifestyle graphics and internet work stations for waiting customers to use with their laptop computers.

A company history section will soon be added at this and numerous other Griffin Brothers locations.

"The south Charlotte market has been an area of interest for us for quite some time," says Vice President Larry Griffin Jr. "The timing was right, especially considering we were in the process of remodeling the sales, customer waiting and showroom areas in four of our existing stores to create a more warm and modern feel."

Griffin Brothers, based in Cornelius, N.C., is a full-service tire and automotive repair shop that performs all factory recommended maintenance services. All locations are also licensed North Carolina Emission and Safety Inspections stations.

Griffin Brothers is an authorized dealer for Michelin, BFGoodrich, Uniroyal, Goodyear and Delta.

The new facility is the seventh tire and automotive store that Griffin Brothers has opened in the Charlotte area. The anchor store is in uptown Charlotte. A second location was opened at Lake Norman in Cornelius in 1991.

Griffin Brothers opened its third store in the university area of Charlotte in 1996. A fourth was opened in Mooresville in 2000; that same year, a fifth was opened in Concord. Griffin Brothers acquired a sixth location when it purchased Hefner Tire in Lincolnton in 2002.

Griffin Brothers Tire is a family-owned business that was established in 1961 by Larry Griffin Sr. Today, the daily operations are handled by Larry Jr.

"Customer service and staying very current with market trends is essential for us," says Griffin Jr. "We hire and retain the very best in the industry and have a proven track record. Many of our store managers, sales advisors and technicians have been with us for 10 or more years. We know the value of delivering exceptional workmanship and service at a fair price."

Griffin Sr. was a founding member of the Tri-State Delta buying group. Griffin Jr. now serves on the Tri-State board as well as the board of the North Carolina Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association.
