Bridgestone/Firestone will build new distribution center in Tennessee

Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire (BFNT) LLC's newly announced facility in Lebanon, Tenn., will servce as the company's main tire distribution center for all customers in the Mid-South.

It also will be the sole distribution center for all BFNT large truck tire customers east of the Rocky Mountains.

BFNT's current Memphis, Tenn., distribution complex will relocate to the Lebanon building once it is built, according to BFNT officials.

The 750,000-square-foot Lebanon facility will be able to store more than one million tires at top capacity, "ranging in size from small passenger and industrial to large off-the-road tires." It will employ more than 200 people.

The 40 Bridgestone/Firestone workers and most of the 30 third-party contractors at BFNT's Memphis complex will be offered jobs at the new warehouse, say BFNT officials.
