Toyo plant in Georgia 'on schedule'

July 22, 2005

Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd. plans to install equipment in its Bartow County, Ga., plant this summer. The factory is still under construction.

Production is scheduled to start at the factory during the first quarter of 2006, according to Toyo officials.

Its grand opening will be held this December.

Toyo is investing some $150 million in the facility, which is expected to produce two million passenger and light truck tires per year.

The plant is being built in response to "robust overseas demand" that has nearly maxed out Toyo's production capacity in Japan.
