Titan, Goodyear farm tire deal gets pushed back

July 22, 2005

Deadline for Titan International Inc.'s acquisition of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s farm tire unit has been extended to Sept. 1, say Titan officials.

"The original agreement had an expiration date of June," a Titan spokesperson told moderntiredealer.com.

"We're trying to get the approvals."

She would not comment on whether or not negotiations with the United Steelworkers had contributed to the delay. (Completion of the deal depends on Titan negotiating a new labor contract with the Steelworkers for Goodyear's Freeport, Ill., farm tire manufacturing plant, say union representatives.)

Earlier this year, Goodyear announced it would sell its farm tire business to Titan for $100 million.
