Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) plans to lay off 30 workers at its Mayfield, Ky., plant next month.
The decision is related to production reductions taking place at CTNA's Charlotte, N.C., plant, says a CTNA spokesperson.
"The recent announcement in Charlotte that we are reducing the operation... therefore also affects the Mayfield production need."
CTNA suspended production at the Mayfield facility at the end of 2004.
However, it is using the factory for warehousing and other purposes.
Production at Charlotte is being cut from some 25,000 units a day to between 17,000 and 18,000 units a day.
