Steelworkers at eight Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC (BFNT) plants will vote to ratify or reject recently announced tentative agreements with the company on June 28 and 29.
The union will soon hold informational meetings at the following locals:
* Local 7 in Akron, Ohio; Local 138 in Noblesville, Ind.; Local 310 in Des Moines, Iowa; Local 884 in Rusellville, Ark.; Local 998 in Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Local 1055 in La Vergne, Tenn. All of the above will be covered under a tentative master contract.
* Local 787 of Bloomington, Ill., and Local 1155 in Warren County, Tenn., both are which are covered under their own agreements.
Maintenance workers at the La Vergne plant, who are covered by a separate contract, also will hold an informational meeting and then vote at the end of the month.
"Details of the tentative agreements will not be released to the media prior to the members having the opportunity to examine and discuss the proposed contracts at the local meetings," said the union in an official statement.
