Continental offers ContiComfort Kit

June 10, 2005

Continental Tire North America Inc.'s new ContiComfortKit (CCK) for the replacement market temporarily seals a tire puncture and provides extended mobility for up to 120 miles.

The ContiComfortKit is simply plugged into the vehicle's powerpoint outlet and a flexible hose is connected to the valve of the flat tire. Once the sealant tank is flipped up, a 12-volt compressor re-inflates the tire with a push of a button and simultaneously fills the tire with a liquid sealant, which seals the puncture.

As a result, the tire can be driven at a maximum speed of 50 mph for up to 120 miles. Drivers can get to the nearest tire shop and do not have to rely on roadside assistance. A built-in light allows for easy use, even at night.

The CCK weighs only 5.5 pounds and does not require installation. It can easily be stored in the trunk of the vehicle. The kit also can be used as a compressor to check and monitor tire pressure through a built-in compressor and tire gauge.

The CCK already has been a success with car manufacturers, the company notes. Since its introduction, it has obtained OE equipment approvals for cars such as the Ford GT and Volvo V/S50 and XC90.
