At its general shareholders meeting earlier this week, Groupe Michelin appointed Michel Rollier managing partner. He increases the number of managing partners to three; Edouard Michelin and Rene Zingraff are the others.

Rollier is the group's financial director and a member of the Groupe Michelin Executive Council. "This is an important stage for the company," said Michelin at the shareholders meeting.

"We know Mr. Rollier very well, particularly over the last five years he has spent as financial director," said Zingraff. "We have been able to appreciate his determination and courage, together with a professionalism of high calibre.

"What is more, his devotion to the company and to its values was a determining factor."

Rollier joined Groupe Michelin in 1996. The following year, he was appointed director of the Groupe Legal Department and Finances. Since 1998 he has been in charge of Plans, Results and and Management Control, and a member of the company's executive council. In October 1999 he was named financial director.

"This honor has been bestowed on me by the shareholders of Michelin. I am totally aware of the responsibilities that go with the function, and very happy to join Mr. Zingraff and Mr. Michelin in the management team," said Rollier.

"With Mr. Zingraff, I am determined to support fully the action of Mr. Edouard Michelin, as did my father with Mr. Francois Michelin for many years."
