May 9, 2005

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co's Wingfoot Commercial Tire Systems LLC earned "Best in Show" honors in the Tire Industry Association's (TIA) 30th annual retread appearance contest held during the World Tire Expo in Louisville, Ky.

The contest was judged by the Tread Rubber and Repair Materials Manufacturers Group.

Wingfoot submitted entries from 29 of its North American plants. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Goodyear, with 171 commercial tire sales, service and retread facilities worldwide.

Winning the top award in "Truck Mold Cure" was Darrell Yoder Jr., plant manager of a Wingfoot Commercial Tire center in Brunswick, Ohio.

Yoder also won first place in "Excellence in Tire Repair," scoring 98% on a quiz and on his ability to perform all of the necessary steps for repairing a standard radial truck tire puncture.
