A Texas truck driver who saved a family from drowning has been named Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s 2005 Highway Hero.

Last July, Rick Dent, a trucker from Diana, Texas, pulled a man and two children from their car, which had crashed into a deep, water-filled ditch.

Dent received a $10,000 U.S. savings bond from Goodyear, plus a ring commemorating the honor.

Goodyear's Highway Hero program started in 1983.
