Mitas: '2004 was a milestone year'

March 29, 2005

Last year was a "milestone" for Mitas a.s., according to Mitas General Manager Jaroslav Cechura.

"The year brought so many crucial changes that it will be remembered ... as a year in which we began to take our place among the key players in off-road tires," he said in a recent edition of Mitas' company newsletter.

Chechura cited Mitas parent company Ceska Gumarenska Spolecnost's (CGS) acquisition of Continental AG's farm tire division last October as a major accomplishment.

"The deal brings a fundamental change in our status among global tire manufacturers."

He added that Mitas' farm tire business unit is "preparing a new strategic plan."

CGS' acquisition of Continental's ag tire unit included Continental's North American farm tire business.

CGS is now responsible for the production and trade of the Continental, Semperit, Barum and Euzkadi farm tire brands.

CGS Tires U.S. (formerly known as Mitas U.S. Inc.), which is based in Charlotte, N.C., is directing Continental´s farm tire program in North America.
