International Tire & Rubber Association (ITRA) members are meeting in Louisville, Ky., on Jan. 31 to vote on the proposed consolidation of ITRA and the Tire Association of North America (TANA).
If two-thirds of ITRA's voting members approve -- and two-thirds of TANA's voting members approve -- the merger will take place this July.
"The consolidated organization will provide a single voice for businesses in the industry," ITRA President Tom Raben wrote in a letter sent to ITRA members yesterday.
Both association's boards unanimously accepted the consolidation plan last fall.
