Feb. 15, 2005

Nokian Tyres plc's net sales increased to 602 million euros during 2004, a 13.9% jump from 2003. Its operating profit for 2004 totaled 108 million euros.

"Demand for car winter tires and high-speed summer tires remained high," say Nokian officials. "Also sales of forestry tires and special tractor tires were brisk."

Sales growth was fastest in the Nordic countries, Russia and the United States.

Nokian's consolidated net sales for the fourth quarter of 2004 were 210.5 million euros, a 12.5% increase over numbers achieved during the same period in 2003.

"Nokian will continue to grow and focus on operations in line with its strategy" during 2005.

"Similar to previous years, the first quarter profit will be low, with most of the profit generated in the second half of the year due to the winter season.

"Healthy demand for passenger car winter tires, high performance summer tires and heavy special tires will continue."
