Ray Carr Tires Inc. may have shut down earlier this month but a Waynesboro, Va., store that bears the company's name is still open for business.
The outlet, a combined commercial/retail facility, is owned by Everett Carr, brother of Ray Carr Tires' owner Ray Carr Jr. and is not part of the Ray Carr chain.
Last week, the Harrisonburg (Va.) Daily News Record reported that Ray Carr Tires had ceased operations.
Numerous calls by Modern Tire Dealer to Ray Carr have gone unreturned.
Ray Carr Tires had been the 22nd largest retreader in the United States, according to MTD data.
