BBTS tread rubber plant hits safety milestone

April 20, 2010

Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions'  (BBTS) Oxford, N.C., facility has marked one million hours worked without a lost-time accident.

The plant produces tread rubber and other retreading materials. It employs more than 175 people.

The milestone is not the first safety-related achievement for the Oxford factory, say BBTS officials. In 2009, the Rubber Manufacturers Association recognized the facility with its Safety Health Improvement Program Excellence Award.

"In addition, the North Carolina Department of Labor previously recognized the plant with a safety award in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009."
