"The intelligent tire is the next technological step beyond the run-flat tire," Kumho Tires CEO Hyung In Shin told attendees at the recent International Tire Exhibition & Conference (ITEC) in South Korea.
"While intelligent tires are being used partially for some commercial purposes, they should be widely used on every type of vehicle."
Shin also called for greater cooperation between tiremakers to accelerate the development of intelligent tire technology.
"The tire industry should take the initiative and develop a cooperative arrangement among wheel, suspension and vehicle manufacturers, as well as manufacturers of tire pressure monitoring systems.
"At Kumho, we would be glad to work with any company that wants to work cooperatively to develop intelligent tires."
