Watts raises prices on solid tires

Dec. 4, 2009

Watts Tyre Group will raise tire prices an average 6% effective Jan. 1, 2010.

The need for the increases follows "significant increases in raw material prices, principally natural rubber, which forms the principle cost element of solid tyres."

The company also expects transportation costs will increase "over the coming months."

In early December, RSS3 rubber pricing was $2.80 per kilogram, up more than 160% compared to 12 months ago. "Over the last quarter, the price has risen by over 30% alone, bringing it within reach of the 2008 record high," adds Watts.
