DOC Delays Antidumping Ruling on TBR Tires Imported From China

June 2, 2016

The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has moved the date to issue its preliminary antidumping ruling on truck and bus tires imported from China from July 7 to Aug. 26. The DOC announced the new date in a June 2 Federal Register notice.

The determination originally was to be issued 140 days after the Feb. 18 initiation of the truck/bus tire investigation. However, on May 20, the United Steelworkers (USW) union, the original petitioner in the truck/bus tire investigation, filed a petition asking the DOC to postpone the ruling by 50 days.

“The petitioner states that a postponement is necessary given a very large number of separate rate applications and the need for additional time to analyze responses from the two selected respondents,” the DOC said in the June 2 Federal Register notice. The DOC stated there were “no compelling reasons” to deny the request.

The DOC also stated the “deadline for the final determination will continue to be 75 days after the date of the preliminary determination, unless extended.”  That moves the date for the final ruling to Dec. 11, 2016.
