Michelin North America Inc. recently provided a sneak preview of what Alexis Garcin, the company's chairman and president, calls "the most versatile and advanced passenger tire that Michelin has developed in more than two decades."
The Michelin CrossClimate 2 made its debut during a July 22 virtual launch event for Michelin tire dealers.
The tire, which will boast nearly 80% consumer vehicle market coverage when its lineup is complete, "is ideal" for North American drivers, Garcin said during the event. He added that the CrossClimate 2 "significantly raises the bar for safety."
Several Michelin North America officials discussed the tire's features, which include a "V-formation" tread design, 3D locking sipes and a "thermal-adaptive tread compound," which provides "an outstanding level of grip."
The CrossClimate 2, which Michelin will officially launch on Aug. 3, comes with a 60,000-mile warranty and will be supported by a "multi-million dollar brand campaign," according to Andrew Meurer, vice president of sales, Michelin North America.
"This tire is designed to bring you a significant selling advantage," he told dealers during the launch event. "This will drive profitability for your business."
