Robert Dalotto, 'a Salesman at Heart,' Has Died

Feb. 12, 2019

Robert Dalotto Sr., whose career in tire sales spanned more than half a century, died on Feb. 8, 2019. He was 79.

He is remembered in his obituary as “a salesman at heart.” Dalotto retired from the corporate world in 1995 but couldn’t stay away from the tire business.

When he retired for the second time in 2016, Modern Tire Dealer noted he had most recently served in a sales capacity dealing with large and key accounts for Moosic, Pa.-based Jack Williams Tire Co. Inc. since 2002.

Upon his second retirement, Jack Williams Tire said: "The name Bob Dalotto has been recognized and well respected within the tire industry for well over 55 years."

He began his career when he joined The U.S. Rubber Co. in March, 1961, the company which later became Uniroyal. Then Uniroyal was purchased by Michelin in 1991, and Dalotto served as regional manager through 1995. In January 1995, he retired from Michelin after 34 years with both Uniroyal and Michelin serving in numerous management positions.

In late 1995, Dalotto joined the now defunct, Memphis Tenn.-based American Car Care Centers as sales manager. Following that assignment, he worked from 1996 through 2001 in a sales and advisory capacity for the Long Island, N.Y.-based Wholesale Tire Co. In 2002 he joined Jack Williams Tire.

"Bob was a great person with a tremendous personality and will be sorely missed," said Scott Williams, president and COO of Jack Williams Tire. "Please keep his wife Kathy and the entire Dalotto family in your thought and prayers in this difficult time."

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Louis and Florence Dalotto, Dalotto was raised in Queens and Centerport, N.Y. He graduated from CW Post University in Long Island with a bachelor's degree in business.

He met and married the love of his life, Kathy, at a fraternity dance. They lived in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Michigan and New Jersey, and traveled the world for business and pleasure.

In addition to Kathy, he leaves children Donna Dalotto (Michael Buckner) and Robert Dalotto Jr.; and granddaughter, Alexandria Self. He was predeceased by his brother, George.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, N.J. on Wednesday, February 13th from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm followed by a service at 1:00 pm. The interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
