The relationship between a breast cancer fighter and her nurse inspired RNR Tire Express to present both with a set of four new tires, $1,000 and a spa day.
The gifts are part of an initiative to raise awareness of an initiative which RNR Express launched during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2018.
The company notes that for cancer victims, sometimes even the smallest of gestures can relieve significant pressure. When Jacksonville resident Tabitha was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer in 2017, she was told it was uncurable and unqualified for surgery due to the size and severity of the tumor.
As a single mom burdened with medical bills and what seemed like a constant flow of discouraging news, her pressures were only increased when she found out she needed to find a new more affordable home for her family. On top of it all, the last thing Tabitha needed was to find out that her car needed new tires.
By coincidence, Tabitha’s nurse, Tamara, heard an advertisement on the radio from RNR Tire Express seeking nominations for breast cancer fighters/survivors to be entered into win a set of four new tires, $1,000 and a VIP spa day as part of a breast cancer awareness initiative to help find a cure. Not even thinking of the money or the spa day, Tamara immediately thought about Tabitha’s need for tires.
Tampa, Fla.-based RNR, had received hundreds of nomination letters, but was moved by Tabitha and Tamara’s story and relationship. RNR decided to reward both women for their positivity, strength and perseverance throughout Tabitha’s fight. With her life forever changed by a small act of kindness, Tabitha says:
“I am thankful for the nights that turned into mornings, friends that turn into family, and dreams that turn into reality. I am healed. God is good. Thank you, guys.”
As part of its breast cancer awareness initiative in October 2018, RNR Tire Express encouraged family members and friends are welcomed to nominate breast cancer survivors or fighters for the chance for them to win a new set of tires, a cash prize and a spa day to recognize their fearlessness and honor their strength.
In addition to giving away tires, cash and a spa package, RNR colelcted donations at each of its corporate-owned stores throughout October and will be making a cash donation to a local breast cancer awareness organization in its Florida home-base.
“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer throughout their lifetime. Due to its prominence, most people know someone affected by the disease in some way,” said Larry Sutton, president and founder of RNR. “At RNR, giving back is at the core of who we are as a brand and we are honored to have the chance to give back to those who have given and lost so much to breast cancer.”
