The United States Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Illinois have published The Scrap Tire Cleanup Guidebook: A Resource for Solid Waste Managers Across the United States.
The book includes information on scrap tire cleanup programs and funding, cost recovery, legal and property considerations and other issues.
The EPA estimates that more than 290 million tires are scrapped in the U.S. each year.
