In 1919, two tire industry institutions were born: Ziegler Tire & Supply Co. and Modern Tire Dealer magazine, then known as Tires.
Ziegler Tire founder Oliver Ziegler began selling tires in February of that year. The first issue of Tires rolled off the press in August 1919.
It didn’t take long for both enterprises to establish themselves as industry leaders — Ziegler as a premier tire and automotive service provider and Tires as the leading source of business information for the independent tire dealer. (Tires adopted the Modern Tire Dealer name in 1959.)
“It’s a great honor and a humbling experience to be named Tire Dealer of the Year,” says Bill Ziegler, this year’s recipient, “especially when you look at all the great tire dealers throughout the country.
“And to receive this award from a prestigious publication like Modern Tire Dealer is especially humbling.”
