Brityrex offers free health checks at G-MEX

March 27, 2007

The Tyre Recovery Association (TRA) is helping tire retailers and independent garages avoid prosecution by offering free business "health checks" at the Brityrex International 2007 exhibition and trade show.

Brityrex International will be held at the G-MEX Exhibition Centre in Manchester, England, from May 1-3.

Failure to dispose of scrap tires in line with stringent environmental legislation can lead to legal action and heavy fines in the United Kingdom. But the TRA says that completion of a simple four-point check list can highlight any weaknesses in retailers' systems.

The four key test points for compliance are:

1. Tire collectors must have a Waste Carriers license.

2. Used tire collections must be recorded on a waste transfer note.

3. Scrap tires must be taken to a fully licensed recovery facility.

4. Retailers are required by statute to know what happens to tires collected from their premises.

TRA says it also can provide introductions to licensed waste carriers and disposal companies specializing in the tire sector.

Entrance to Brityrex is free to bona fide trade visitors. Advance registrations can be made directly via the exhibition Web site at www.eci-international.com.
