SEMA Show, Day Two: New Goodyear Eagle boasts Active CornerGrip technology

Oct. 31, 2007

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is showing off its latest ultra-high performance tire, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric, at this week's Specialty Equipment Market Association Show.

The Eagle F1 Assymetric contains Goodyear's Active CornerGrip Technology, which increases the tire-to-road contact on the inside of its contact area. The technology helps compress the tread evenly for enhanced traction while cornering, says Bob Toth, Goodyear's general manager of auto tires.

"As a vehicle travels through a corner, a high amount of force is exerted through the tire's footprint. Due to the load transfer characteristics of the vehicle, an increased amount of force moves to the outside shoulder of the tire and the grip on the outside of the tread is enhanced."

The tire will be offered in more than 20 sizes, ranging from 17 to 20 inches in diameter. It will be built at Goodyear facilities in Germany.
