When Callaghan Tire owner Dan Callaghan bought the City Tire retail location in Bradenton, Fla., last month, 80% of the outlet's revenue came from automotive repair.
Not anymore, according to Callaghan.
"We've inserted more retail tire business" into the operation.
The shop's sales ratio is now 50% tire sales and 50% auto service, he says.
Forty-eight percent of total sales at the average independent tire dealership comes from automotive service, according to Modern Tire Dealer research.
Callaghan sells Bridgestone, Continental, General, Michelin and BFGoodrich passenger and light truck tires at the facility, which employs five people.
The 10,000-square-foot shop still offers basic tire and front end work, plus "minor repairs and tune-ups."
