A franchisee of Jiffy Lube International Inc. locations is in the midst of a major growth spurt. SRE Group recently opened its 29th Jiffy Lube location, and has two more stores that are expected to open in Nevada by the end of 2018. And yes, the group is selling tires.
The most recent opening, in Provo, Utah, fits the mold of Jiffy Lube's latest model. The four-bay Jiffy Lube MultiCare facility provides expanded services, including brakes, tires and engine diagnostics, as well as Jiffy Lube's signature oil change service.
Jiffy Lube unveiled the MultiCare model in 2017, and at the 2017 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, Jiffy Lube President Steve Ledbetter, told Modern Tire Dealer that the MultiCare stores would help Jiffy Lube expand its tire offerings. He said a couple years ago there were about 100 Jiffy Lube stores selling tires, and that in 2017 the company more than doubled that number.
He said franchisees were so eager to expand services and adopt the MultiCare philosophy that the company had to pull back a bit as to not exceed the company's capacity to make the shift. "Some of our franchisees want to do it much faster than we have the capacity to do," Ledbetter said at the time.
The SRE Group is one of those fast-moving franchisees, with stores in Utah, Montana and Nevada. The group's leadership, including Kelly Kent, Kelly Thompson and Matt Johnson, says it is "highly motivated to beat the competition to market to gain the long-term business potential and return on investment that Jiffy Lube brings to its business owners."
Over the past 32 months SRE Group has opened six locations, and recently broke ground on a Jiffy Lube location in Southern Highlands, Nev. The group also has come to terms on an acquisition in Henderson, Nev. Both of those upcoming locations will be Jiffy Lube MultiCare facilities.
