Nokian to Increase Passenger Tire Production

Nov. 30, 2021

Nokian Tyres plc is increasing production capacity at its Finnish tire factory by about 30% by adding shifts, extending the production week to six days and hiring more personnel to build passenger car tires.

The added production is needed to meet growing demand, the company says. Nokian has already bolstered its production cycle at its newest plant in the U.S.

“Demand for tires in our main markets has grown during the end of last year and the beginning of year 2021.," says Executive Vice President Manu Salmi. "We will continue developing the Finnish factory and increase capacity and staff for the production of passenger car tires. With these actions, we want to ensure the availability of our new successful products also in the future."

Passenger car tire production in Nokia is currently running three shifts five days a week. After the recruiting of an additional 70 employees, the factory will run four shifts six days a week.
