TBC Corp.’s Midas International LLC program honored several franchisees during its recent convention in Nashville, Tenn.

Daniel Evers of Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec, and Nasser and Amer Halwani of Detroit, Mich., won Midas Franchise of the Year honors, while Michael Lewis and Mike Bukowski took home the Nate Sherma Honorary Achievement Award, which recognizes longtime Midas employees.

Midas also inducted Kent Smith and Randy Lucyk into the Midas Hall of Fame. Smith has 15 Midas stores in New England and Lucyk, who is now retired, had a Midas franchise outlet in Kalkaska, Mich., for many years.

Another Midas franchisee, Gus Herlong, received the Mark Smith Community Involvement Award.

Also during the event, Midas officials presented Youth Villages, a local non-profit, with a check for $1,500 to benefit the group’s LifeSet program, which helps young people who age out of foster care. Youth Villages also received a matching donation from the International Midas Dealers Association, for a total donation of $3,000.

Lenny Valentino, president and chief operating officer of Midas, told attendees that “as part of our evolution,” Midas is centering its business “around the customer experience. That’s our vision for Midas. We are going to set the gold standard in and out of our industry for customer service.”

Next year’s Midas convention will take place in Orlando, Fla.
