The market may be down, but you wouldn’t know it judging by the continued growth of the 100 largest tire dealerships in the U.S., many of which have added locations since the last edition of the MTD 100 was published in July 2025.

Here’s a classified look at the 50 largest tire dealerships on the 2026 MTD 100. (Rankings are based on the total number of locations that each dealership owns and operates, effective June 1, 2026.) 

Mavis Tire Express Services Corp.

Mavis Tire Express Services Corp., the largest tire dealership in the United States with more than 3,600 locations, is building upon the Midas platform it acquired from TBC Corp. last summer to further expand its footprint, having purchased Max Auto Supply Co., a Midas franchise with 111 locations throughout Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Kentucky and Georgia in late-2025.  

Discount Tire
HQ: Scottsdale, Ariz.

Reinalt-Thomas Corp., which does business under the retail banners of Discount Tire, America’s Tire, Dunn Tire & Auto, Ellisville Tire & Service and Suburban Tire Auto Centers and also owns Tire Rack, opened 45 Discount Tire locations throughout 20 states during 2025 and 11 locations to-date during 2026. The company’s Dunn Tire & Auto brand, historically based in New York and Pennsylvania, also expanded to Arizona and Virginia. 

Monro Inc.

The only publicly traded tire dealership on the MTD 100, Monro, which does business under more than 10 retail brands, recently initiated a review of strategic alternatives, not limited to asset sales, refinancing, acquisitions, operational improvements and even the potential sale of the company. Monro’s total store count has remained flat versus what was published in the 2025 MTD 100. 

Sun Auto Tire & Service Inc.

Backed by private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners, Sun Auto Tire & Service Inc. operates under nearly 70 retail banners, more than any other dealership listed on the 2026 MTD 100. The company has continued its acquisition strategy, growing from 517 retail locations at this time last year to slightly under 600 outlets at press time, opening 16 stores in its native Arizona during the last 12 months. 

Les Schwab Tire Centers Inc.
HQ: Bend, Ore.

Still owned by private equity firm Meritage Group LP, Les Schwab Tire Centers Inc. opened more than 30 new company-owned stores over the last 12 months, including the acquisition of Staley's Tire & Automotive, a two-location dealership based in Billings, Mont., last summer. Les Schwab Tire Centers also has a new CEO and chairman, Tom Nolan, who joined the company in March 2026. 

Big Brand Tire & Service
HQ: Moorpark, Calif.

Big Brand Tire & Service added 100 locations to its network during the past year. The company’s largest acquisition to date was its purchase of North Salt Lake, Utah-based Burt Brothers Tire & Service from private equity firm Bestige Holdings in October 2025. Owned by private equity firm Percheron Capital, Big Brand Tire wants 1,000 locations by the year 2030. 

Best-One Tire Group

Southern Tire Mart at Pilot (STMP), Southern Tire Mart LLC’s five-and-a-half-year-old joint venture with truck stop chain Pilot Flying J, has grown to 161 locations, including 42 former Goodyear Truck Tire Centers acquired this past November. Meanwhile, the number of non-STMP Southern Tire Mart locations has remained virtually flat year-over-year. STMP outlets are not factored into Southern Tire Mart’s MTD 100 listing. 

Tire Discounters Inc.
HQ: Cincinnati, Ohio

Owned and operated by the Wood family, Tire Discounters Inc. added five new locations during the past 12 months, including two in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area, one in Georgia, one in Kentucky and one in Virginia. The dealership, which was founded by Chip Wood, its current chairman, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. 

Pomp’s Tire Service Inc.

Following a period of rapid expansion that saw the predominantly commercial Pomp’s Tire Service Inc. add more than 50 outlets between the publication date of the 2023 MTD 100 and when the 2024 MTD 100 first appeared, the dealership has maintained roughly the same total number of outlets over the last few years.

Belle Tire Distributors Ltd.

Belle Tire Distributors Ltd. continues to maintain a strong presence in its native Michigan, as well as Indiana, northwest Ohio and Illinois, where it maintains a big concentration of stores in the greater Chicago area. 

Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers Inc.

With the backing of private equity group Audax Private Equity, Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers has added more than 60 locations to its quickly expanding footprint since the 2025 MTD 100 was published, pushing into new markets like Wisconsin and making the company one of the fastest-growing dealerships on the list. A new CEO, Derek Basile, was named this past April.

GreatWater
Grand Rapids, Mich.

With nearly 160 stores, GreatWaterwhich is backed by private equity group Kinderhook Industries, has jumped to the 13th spot on the MTD 100. One of the biggest consolidators on the MTD 100, the company continues to add locations via the acquisition of smaller tire dealerships, including Richlonn’s Tire & Service Centers, a longtime independent in the Milwaukee, Wis., area, that joined GreatWater in late-2025. 

Gills Point S Tire & Auto Service
HQ: The Dalles, Ore.

The largest dealership within the Point S USA network, Gills Point S Tire & Auto Service made headlines in 2024 when it acquired longtime MTD 100 dealer and Denver, Colo.-based Peerless Tyre Co., which had 50 locations throughout Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, South Dakota, Texas and Wyoming. Still based in Oregon, Gills Point S now operates in 17 statesas far east as Maine. 

RAW Wheels & Tires
HQ: Los Angeles, Calif.

RAW Wheels & Tires bills itself as the largest rent-to-own tire and custom wheel retailer in the United States, with an estimated 130 outlets spread across 15 states. 

Leeds West Groups
HQ: Greenfield Village, Colo.

Founded in 2009, Leed West Groups continues to acquire property to serve as sites for new Big O Tires franchise locations. This past January, the company acquired land in Waukee, Iowa, for a new Big O Tires  outlet and this past May bought a property in Alburquerque, N.M., where it plans to build another Big O Tires store. 

Sullivan Tire Co. Inc.
HQ: Norwell, Mass.

Sullivan Tire, a mainstay in the northwest part of the U.S. for more than 70 years, opened its fifth distribution center this past fall. The 40,000-square-foot warehouse is in Merrimack, N.H., and ships tires to the dealership’s customers in northern New England. Sullivan Tire plans to expand the distribution center to a total of 150,000 square feet. 

AAA Club Alliance Inc.

Straightaway Tire & Auto

Straightaway Tire & Auto, which is owned by private equity firm 02 Investment Partners LP, went from 76 locations one year ago to 100 locations at press time. The company’s Victory Tire & Auto brand was a particularly prolific acquirer of tire dealerships during the past year, picking up a number of small locations. 

Northern Rock Automotive
HQ: Atlanta, Ga.

Primarily retail with a small commercial tire presence, Northern Rock Automotive is part of a company that also focuses on automotive parts, commercial real estate and other sectors. 

Left Lane Auto LLC
HQ: Champaign, Ill.

Left Lane Auto LLC, which does business under 40 retail brands, added more than 40 locations to its network during the past 12 months and intends to hit the 100-store mark this summer with the help of Bertram Capital, a private equity firm that made an investment in the company in December 2025.  

Telle Tire & Auto Centers
HQ: Webster Groves, Mo.

Telle Tire & Auto Centers has nearly doubled its store count during the past year, entering several new markets, including Chicago, Ill., primarily through acquisitions. The dealership acquired Heartland Tire Inc.’s 11 retail stores in Minnesota this past February and rolled up 10 Jim Whaley Tires locations in Alabama the month before. Next Horizon Capital, a private equity firm, owns a stake in Telle Tire & Auto Centers. 

Snider Tire Inc.
HQ: Fort Mill, S.C.

Doing business as Snider Fleet Solutions, Snider Tire Inc. operates as far north as Indiana, as far west as northeastern Texas and as far south as southwestern Florida. The commercial tire specialist has developed a lucrative income stream installing drive-over truck tire inspection systems under the WheelRight name at trucking fleet terminals and continues to build that part of its business. 

VIP Tires & Service
HQ: Auburn, Maine

Celebrating its centennial in 2026, VIP Tires & Service acquired Lyons Auto Shop in West Hartford, Conn., several months ago, expanding the dealership’s footprint to nearly 80 locations throughout Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. 

McCarthy Tire Service Co. Inc.
HQ: Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

McCarthy Tire Service Co. Inc. maintained its footprint over the last 12 months and acquired Henise Tire Service’s commercial operations, which gave the dealership two locations in Allentown and Bensalem, Pa., plus another Bandag retread plant. McCarthy Tire Service is celebrating its 100th year in business. John McCarthy III will become the dealership’s president next year. 

Goodturn Tire & Auto
HQ: Wellington, Fla.

Owned by private equity firm Garnett Station PartnersGoodturn Tire & Auto, which operates under 30-plus retail brands, doubled its store count in 2024 and broke the 70-store barrier this past year. The chain was founded in 2021.

Black’s Tire Service Inc.

In early-2026, Black’s Tire Service Inc. Acquired Justice Tire Distributors, adding five distribution centers in Virginia to its BTS Tire & Wheel Distributors portfolio. The dealership, which will celebrate its centennial in three years, now distributes across six states. 

Steve Shannon Tire Co.

Steve Shannon Tire Co. has continued its retail expansion with the acquisition of stores in Chesilhurst and Collingswood, N.J., last year and more recently via the purchase of two Al’s Tire & Auto stores in North Cambria and Ebensburg, Pa. The company also has expanded its retread plant in Bloomsburg, Pa., which opened in 2021. 

Nebraskaland Tire Co. Inc.

Owned and operated by the Wright family, Nebraskaland Tire Co., which also does business as Kansasland Tire, Coloradoland Tire and McWhorter’s Tire, the latter in Texas, has nearly 30 hybrid retail/commercial outlets. 

Commercial Tire Inc.

Trent Schwenkfelder, son of Commercial Tire Inc.’s founder Bob Schkwenkfelder, took the lead position at the dealership last year. The elder Schwenkfelder, who founded Commercial Tire in 1968, died this past March. Commercial Tire has been employee-owned since 2021. 

Service Tire Truck Centers Inc.
HQ: Bethlehem, Pa.

Service Tire Truck Centers (STTC) acquired Oasis Truck Tire Service, which had three locations in Connecticut, in 2025, which allows STTC to fully service the Connecticut market with locations positioned along main interstates. The purchase followed STTC’s acquisition of Mahwah Tire in New Jersey. 

Purcell Tire & Rubber Co.

With operations in nearly 15 states and locations as far north as Alaska, Purcell Tire & Rubber Co. continues to expand, most recently opening a distribution center in its hometown of Potosi, Mo. In addition, the dealership has reorganized its sales force and is focusing on value-driven services. 

Texas Tires LLC

Bauer Built Inc.

Bauer Built Inc. recently acquired Jack’s Tire and Service, a 46-year-old dealership with locations in South Beloit and Madison, Wis. Last summer, Bauer Built acquired Meekhof Tire Sales & Service Inc. The deal gave Bauer Built an additional 14 retail and commercial locations in Michigan and Illinois, plus a Michelin retread plant and an Oliver retread shop. 

Bergey’s Tire and Automotive Centers

AKH Co. Inc.

Tire-Rama, whose corporate name is The Tire Guys, added a location in Cody, Wyo., within the last year. In addition to Wyoming and its home state of Montana, the retail-only dealership has locations in Washington and Idaho. 

Dunlap & Kyle Co. Inc.

Bob Dunlap, chairman and CEO of Dunlap & Kyle, who transformed the company into a $1 billion-plus-a-year business with nearly 20 distribution centers and more than 40 retail stores that operate under the Gateway Tire & Service banner, died in January 2026.

MFA Petroleum

MFA Petroleum is the largest Big O Tires franchisee in the United States. The company significantly expanded its footprint in 2023 when it acquired 13 Big O stores in the Kansas City market. 

Colony Tire Corp.

Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service’s parent company, Flynn’s Tire Group, now has 33 retail stores, up from 31 as reported in the 2025 MTD 100, and four distribution centers, including a warehouse in New Stanton, Pa., that opened three-and-a-half years ago and replaced an older facility in Greensburg. Pa. 

Rental Concepts

Rental Concepts is the largest RNR Tire Express franchise operation listed on the MTD 100. Like other RNR Tire Express franchisees, Rental Concepts offers tires and wheels on a rent-to-own basis. 

T&W Tire LLC

Bob Sumerel Tire Co.

Bob Sumerel Tire added two locations since the 2025 MTD 100 was published. The company says it’s focused on continued growth in the OTR and industrial tire segments. 

Grismer Tire

Dallas, Texas-based private equity firm CenterOak Partners LLC acquired Grismer Tire from longtime majority owner John Marshall this past April. Grismer Tire has locations in the Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio, markets and was founded in 1932, making it one of the oldest members of the MTD 100. 

RimTyme Custom Wheels and Tires
HQ: Tampa, Fla.

Ben Tire Distributors Ltd.
