Bridgestone Canada, Inc. has opened a new distribution center in Ancaster, Ontario. The facility, which can store up to 570,000 tires, represents a $48 million investment in U.S. currency.
"With its strategic location, the new distribution center will enable the company to reduce transportation costs and shorten time-to-market of its products to meet customer demands in Eastern Canada," say Bridgestone officials.
“We are excited about opening our new Ancaster distribution center and look forward to providing even better service to our customers as our Canadian business continues to grow," says Brad Blizzard, vice president, logistics operations and product delivery, Bridgestone Americas Inc.
According to Bridgestone officials, the new center "builds upon the 2018 announcement by Bridgestone about the construction of an automated warehouse at its Canadian passenger and light truck tire manufacturing facility in Joliette, Québec.
"The Joliette investment, estimated at CA$56 million (US $45 million), will enhance the operational excellence of the plant and increase the company’s agility to serve the North American tire dealers and customers," he adds.
"This strategic investment in our supply chain will further strengthen our distribution footprint in Canada, allowing us to better deliver the high-value-added products our customers want and need," says Riccardo Cichi, president and chief sales officer North America, Bridgestone Americas.
"With its location and increased capability to house tires on-site, the new distribution center will improve our ability to better serve our customers with the right tires in the right place at the right time."
