Nokian Shakes Up Its Passenger Tire Division

Oct. 20, 2015

Nokian Tyres plc is reorganizing its passenger car tires operations.

The former unit will be dissolved and reorganized into this format: product management, research and development, and sales functions will report directly to the CEO. Procurement, demand and supply management, along with logistics and customer service will be part of a new supply operations unit.

In the financial reporting passenger car tires will continue to be reported separately like Vianor and Nokian heavy tires.

"Our success will also in the future be based on the world's best products, world class production and distribution and excellent customer orientation," says Ari Lehtoranta, CEO and president of Nokian. "The new operational model is a right step on our path back to profitable growth."

Vianor, Nokian heavy tires, Russian operations, finance and investor relations, quality and process development, marketing and communications, ICT and human resources will continue without any changes.

As part of the reorganization, Pontus Stenberg has been nominated as vice president of sales to lead the global sales and sales development unit. Stenberg previously served as vice president of Nokian heavy tires.

Manu Salmi will replace Stenberg as vice president of Nokian heavy tires. Salmi was formerly vice president of procurement.

Nokian says the former head of passenger car tire operations, Rami Helminen, has decided to leave the company and continue his career elsewhere.
