Michelin North America Inc.’s investment at its plants in Nova Scotia “continue to advance as planned,” according to a Michelin spokesperson.

The $220 million investment, announced in March 2023, involves three factories in the Canadian province, including Michelin’s passenger and light truck tire plant in Bridgewater.

The other plants are located in Waterville and Granton, Nova Scotia. The Waterville facility, which is producing the recently introduced Michelin X-Line Grip D medium truck tire, will receive new equipment.

When the investment was first anounced, Michelin officials said it was in response to demand for passenger and light truck tires designed for larger wheels, plus fuel-efficient commercial truck tires and tires for electric vehicles.

"We're excited to continue to enhance and grow our operations in Canada," says Andrew Mutch, president of Michelin North America (Canada) Inc., in 2023. "We have a wonderful history of manufacturing tires here for more than 50 years, and I'm thrilled we can strengthen the competitiveness of our factories for our current and future workforce."
