With the news TPG Capital LP was considering the sale of American Tire Distributors Holdings Inc. through an initial public offering (IPO) comes a lot of speculation.
Why does the private equity firm want to sell? Does it have other options? What will happen if ATD goes public?
So far, the companies have remained relatively mum on the subject. And why not? Private equity firms are almost always in the market for attractive investments they can turn around and sell in three to five years.
