Following its introduction at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. announced that its Ventus S1 evo2 UHP SUV tire is now available to the European market. The Ventus S1 evo2 SUV will be available in the U.S. starting the second half of 2014.
Hankook says the tire combines sport-dynamic driving performance with suspension comfort, low rolling noise and limited rolling resistance. The safety features, wet grip for example, have also been specially tuned to the demands of high-performance premium SUVs like the BMW X5, which come with the Ventus S1 evo2 as original equipment.
In the independent tire test of automobile trade magazine Gute Fahrt (March 2014 edition), the relevant criteria of 10 summer tyres for SUVs in size 235/55 R 17 were compared. The new Hankook Ventus S1 evo2 SUV not only received the overall best mark from the experts including purchase recommendation, but was also the only tire in the test that secured the best mark in the safety-relevant wetness tests category (wet braking, wet handling, longitudinal and diagonal aquaplaning). A "very good" was also awarded for very high comfort and particularly low rolling noise.
The Ventus S1 evo2 SUV will be available to U.S. consumers during the second half of 2014 in 13 sizes in many popular 19-, 20- and 21-inch fitments.
