Pirelli Scales Back Production at Italian Plant due to COVID-19

March 12, 2020

Pirelli & Cie SpA is curtailing production at its Settimo Torinese factory after an employee there tested positive for COVID-19.

The company says it has adopted precautionary measures as recommended by the Italian government.

"Given this situation, the company has decided to slow down production, with a progressive recovery in the coming days. This will permit the factory to operate with a very limited number of employees and guarantee maximum safety in health conditions."

Pirelli is sanitizing the entire plant and all work areas, and says "supply to clients will continue with a suitable level of service drawing on available stock."

The passenger tire plant is one of three Pirelli facilities in Italy. Between its headquarters in Milano and two passenger tire plants in Bollate and Settimo Torinese, Pirelli employs 13,008 people in Italy.
