Hankook Designs an OE Tire Specifically for the BMW SUV X3

June 15, 2018

Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. and the BMW Group are partnering on the new BMW SUV X3. Hankook will supply the vehicle with its Ventus S1 evo2 and winter I*cept evo2 tires.

The original equipment fitments will be in the following sizes:

* Ventus S1 evo2 in 225/60R18 104W XL (standard);

* winter I*cept evo2 in 225/60R18 104H XL.

Hankook previously supplied OE tires for the flagship BMW 7 series. The first BMW SUV X3 equipped with Ventus tires hit the road in November 2017. The latest round of tires are for the third BMW X3 generation.

Similar to the 7 series, the new model offers both summer and winter tires as original equipment. The new Ventus S1 evo2 is an ultra-high performance tire in an SUV version; it has been specifically designed for the BMW SUV X3, says Hankook. The tire design focuses on good track performance and low rolling resistance.

The tire also features the brand’s heat resistance technology, which is comprised of a hybrid textile that enables the tire to cope with high temperatures when exposed to speeds up to 270 km/h. This allows for greater elasticity of the tire’s contact area. A highly dispersible nano-silica compound is used to prevent hardening of the tire at low temperatures.
