TIA to host workplace safety webinar

Sept. 4, 2013

The Tire Industry Association (TIA), in partnership with Federated Insurance, is hosting a webinar entitled “How to Establish a Drug- and Alcohol-free Workplace” on Sept. 26, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. (Central time).

TIA says substance abusers in the workplace cost employers time and money. In fact, 72% of drug users are employed. According to the American Council for Drug Education, substance abusers are:

* 10 times more likely to miss work and 33% less productive;

* 3.6 times more likely to be involved in on-the-job accidents; and

* 5 times more likely to file workers compensation claims.

“I encourage our members who have not implemented a drug- and alcohol-free workplace program to attend this webinar to learn how Federated can help them do so,” said TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield.

“In addition to cutting expenses and reducing liability, a drug- and alcohol-free workplace program shows employees that their safety and well-being are important.”

The webinar will be presented by Craig Dolan, ARM, CPCU, of Federated Insurance. The presentation will offer the steps and resources available from Federated Insurance to help companies implement an effective program.

The webinar is free and open to all TIA members and prospective members. Online pre-registration is requested at http://bit.ly/139k45o.
