Calif. Big O Tires store celebrates 40 years

Sept. 3, 2013

Big O Tires located in Dublin, Calif., will celebrate its 40th year as a tire and automotive service retailer with a special event on Sept. 7, 2013, when customers can enter-to-win prizes including a set of Big O brand tires and a set of wheels.

In addition, there will be lemonade, hot dogs and chips available with proceeds going to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancer.

The Dublin location was opened in 1973 by brothers Ken and Stan Cherry. Ken’s son Bruce started as a sales person in 1980 and later became an owner, along with business partner Greg Mitchell.

Today, Bruce’s son, Jason, and daughter, Jessica Johnston, are also involved in the business, spanning three generations of a family operation.

“We have truly enjoyed serving the Dublin community for their tire and auto service needs over the past four decades,” says Bruce Cherry. “Forty years in business is true testament to the great customers we serve.”

The Dublin location is one of six Big O Tires stores that the Cherry family owns and operates in Northern California. Honoring his contribution to the Big O Tires brand, Bruce Cherry was inducted into the Big O Tires Hall of Fame this past April.

“The Dublin store’s commitment to outstanding customer service has been a part of their legacy since day one,” says Kevin Kormondy, COO and executive vice president at Big O Tires, LLC. “They are true brand stewards in promoting the ‘Team You Trust’ to each and every customer, each and every day.”

Big O Tires LLC serves over 400 franchised and company-owned stores primarily located in the Western and Midwestern United States. It also distributes tires and other automotive service products to associate dealers in Western Canada. It is one of six brands that operate under TBC Corp., which is at the number two spot on the 2013 MTD 100 List of top independent tire dealers in the U.S.
