GITI Tire Co. Ltd. is recalling up to 218 Runway Enduro 816 tires, size P235/60 R16, manufactured in the second week of 2013 (DOT code 0213).
"Due to a tire mold issue, the tires may develop splits in the shoulder," says the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Office of Defects Investigation. "The tires may experience rapid air loss while driving, possiblity resulting in tire failure and increasing the risk of a crash."
GITI, through its GITI Tire (USA) Ltd. subsidiary, will notify owners and dealers. It will replace the Enduro 816 tires in question free of charge. (The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.)
