Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT) announced it will introduce three specialty tires at Tyrexpo India in Chennai, India, July 9-11, 2013.
BKT says the Off Highway Tire (OHT) additions will target popular applications for high-speed crane, port and mining machinery and include:
* 445/95R25 BKT AM27 TL for high-speed crane fitments;
* 18.00-25 40PR BKT Container King brand for port applications; and
* 18.00R33 EMAX SR45 E4 for mining equipment.
“The three new tyres on show at Tyrexpo India are important additions, targeted at key markets for BKT, including mining, ports and also for the construction sector,” says BKT Executive Director Rajiv Poddar.
BKT says new product development is fundamental to its growth strategy, which targets a 10% share of the world OHT market by 2015. The company currently claims around a 5% stake in the global market.
Much of the additional capacity required will come from the company’s $375 million investments in a greenfield plant in Bhuj, Gujarat, where initial production has begun. The company says its total capacity will increase by 75% after the plant’s full commissioning in the last quarter of 2014.
The company says radialization is one of the defining trends in the Indian tyre market and will be extensively covered by Tyrexpo India exhibitors, including BKT in the OHT segment.
