ACT: Trailer orders down, cancellations low

April 23, 2013

Net trailer orders for March 2013 were down 6% month over month and 12% year over year. This update on industry performance was reported in the latest State of the Industry: U.S. Trailers published by Americas Commercial Trucking (ACT) Research Co.

“Although orders are down, the orders being placed appear genuine, as cancellation activity has been negligible for most trailer categories,” says Frank Maly, director-CV transportation with ACT Research.

“Better economic growth, and the resulting gains in freight, should result in improved order volumes as the year progresses,” he added. “Backlogs decreased 4% in March, while inventories were up less than 2%.”
