Reliable Tire's Betz wants to grow

Sept. 27, 2012

Reliable Tire Co. wants to grow. To do that, the company is focusing on its core markets in the northeast and east coast territories surrounding its existing branches.

Reliable CEO Richie Betz says there are "numerous opportunities for growth located in our own backyards. Expansion within our existing markets makes it more efficient to support our loyal dealers. It will also allow our branches to easily support each other."

Betz cites the recent addition of Reliable's Albany, N.Y., branch (see "Reliable Tire adds warehouse in New York"). Located about 125 miles from its East Hartford, Conn., and East Syracuse, N.Y., branches, the distribution center is the company's fifth.

Reliable Tire sold its branches in Dallas and Houston, Texas, to K&M Tire Inc. earlier this month.

“I have been in Texas for a long time and I needed to make a decision to either get bigger or get out," says Betz. "I’ve chosen to focus our attention on the northeast and east coast, where we already have a footprint.”

Reliable Tire, based in of Blackwood, N.J., also operates warehouses in Blackwood and Atlanta, Ga.
